Laser Measurement System for the Refractory Lining of Hot Torpedo Ladles

This paper introduces the world’s first laser profile measurement system for the refractory lining of hot torpedo ladles, the LaCam®. The torpedo measuring system allows immersion of a laser head into a hot torpedo ladle with surrounding temperatures of more than 1,000°C. Benefits include improved safety, increased ladle availability and capacity, extended refractory life, and cost savings in energy, material and maintenance.
